DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
The Legislature in Chapter 159, Part IV, Florida Statutes, known and cited as the "Florida Housing Finance Authority Law" (the "Act"), authorized counties to create by ordinance a separate public body corporate and politic, to be known as the “Housing Finance Authority” (the “Authority”) of the county for which it is created to carry out only the powers granted in the Act.
The Board may, at its sole discretion, and at any time, alter or change the structure of the Authority. The proposed ordinance amends the composition of the Authority by increasing the number of alternate members. The additional alternate members are intended to improve the Authority's ability to achieve a quorum and conduct meetings efficiently, thereby ensuring the continued administration of its statutory duties and housing finance programs.
