DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
On March 17, 2026, the Board approved Bid 25B-111 and awarded a contract to C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. for construction of a full-length parallel taxiway (Taxiway Bravo) to Runway Bravo 10-28, installation of a new airfield rotating beacon, and construction of a connector taxiway to Runway 10-28 at the Marion County Airport. The project includes pavement markings, drainage improvements, and other associated airfield infrastructure necessary to complete the work in accordance with the plans and specifications. Funding for the project is provided through grants from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), with the remaining costs funded through local match contributions.
This change order is necessary to provide for the relocation of gopher tortoises within the project limits in accordance with applicable environmental requirements. The additional services are required to allow construction activities to proceed while ensuring compliance with permitting conditions and wildlife protection regulations.
The change order and detailed proposal are attached for review. Upon approval at today’s meeting, the change order will be presented to the Chairman for signature.
BUDGET/IMPACT:
Neutral; additional expenditure of $150,000 bringing the total amount of the upcoming Purchase Order to $3,765,740.43. Funding comes from BQ415542-563102-MAC202202D (Marion County Airport Fund).
