DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
The Salt Springs Resort account is served by a compound meter that records both high-flow and low-flow water usage. The low-flow register rolled over, similar to an odometer, and began recording usage in five digits rather than four. This change resulted in an inaccurate consumption calculation and subsequent overbilling.
Upon identifying the issue, Marion County Utilities (MCU) corrected the register configuration, recalculated the customer's actual water usage, and adjusted the billing records accordingly. The requested refund represents the amount overpaid by the customer and will reconcile the account to the correct billing amount.
