DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
On August 17, 2021, the Board approved contract 21B-192 with Alien Engineered Products to provide on-site metal fabrication and repair services at the Baseline Landfill and remote sites that include the eighteen (18) recycling centers. While the work provided by the contractor has been exceptional, recent difficulties in retaining skilled labor have slowed repairs throughout Marion County’s recycling centers. Due to these challenges, Environmental Services Director, Jody Kirkman, requests contracting with D&S Steel, Inc. who submitted at the time of the bid, as a secondary contractor. D&S Steel, Inc. has agreed to hold pricing.
Attached for review is a draft of the contract and the approved LRM; pending approval at today’s meeting, it will be presented for appropriate signatures.
BUDGET/IMPACT:
Neutral; annual expenditure is estimated at $60,000 annually; however, this estimate may vary based on the actual need for repairs. Annual expenditures shall not exceed approved Fiscal Year budget amounts and shall be based on contracted hourly fees and materials needed.
