DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
In accordance with Land Development Code section 6.14.2, developers (property owners) are required to connect to public utilities if the property is within connection distance. For a single-family residence, the connection distance is 400 feet from the parcel’s closest corner to the public water main. In this case, the property owner is required to connect to the public water main provided by Marion County Utilities (MCU) and would be required to install 204 feet of water main, which includes the parcel’s frontage and the water main would end at the farthest end of the property. The water main extension will serve the property owner’s parcel and create a benefit for two (2) additional parcels along the route of the water main extension. The Owner has elected to hire their own contractor; the $20,437 cost was verified with Mann Utilities for all materials to complete the work; the pro-rata share has been established at $6,812.33 per parcel.
