DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
On behalf of Marion County Animal Services, Procurement is requesting approval of a bid exemption for the use of Hill’s Pet Nutrition Sales, Inc. pet food products at the Marion County Animal Shelter. This agreement will allow Animal Services to feed quality and nutritious food to all cats and dogs consistently. This agreement aims to reduce the chances of GI upset in these animals due to the constant changing of the food brands. This agreement will also reduce the cost of care by reducing the cost of treating food allergies and behavioral challenges due to inconsistent feeding. This agreement also supplies adoption kits to the animals upon their departure.
Attached for review is a contract draft, solicitation waiver, and the approved LRM from Legal; pending approval at today’s meeting, the signed original will be presented to the Board for the Clerk’s and Chair’s signatures.
BUDGET/IMPACT:
Neutral; estimated annual expenditure of $60,000. Annual expenditure shall not exceed fiscal year budgeted amount without being brought back to the Board for approval. Funding is from AA315562-552108 (General Fund).
