DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
On April 7, 2026, the Board approved the contract with Southern Shield Land & Disaster Services, LLC for drainage retention area (DRA) mowing in areas II and IV. On behalf of the Office of the County Engineer (OCE), Procurement is now requesting Board approval to formally terminate the existing contract with Southern Shield Land & Disaster Services, LLC.
The contractor has failed to complete work in a timely manner. Cycle one, cycle two, and cycle three for both area II and IV were not completed on time.
DRA mowing for all contacts ends in November. OCE will be quoting out DRA mowing work until the contract is re-bid next year.
