PUBLIC HEARING to Consider Public Comments for the 2026-2027 Annual Action Plan for the Community Development Block Grant, Home Investment Partnership and Emergency Solutions Grant

Body

INITIATOR:

DEPARTMENT:

Cheryl Butler, Director

Community Services

DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

Marion County receives federal grant funds through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs as an Entitlement County.

Marion County partners with the City of Ocala in a HOME Consortium, where the County serves as the lead agency.

The City of Ocala independently receives its own CDBG funds as an Entitlement City.

Each year, the County submits an Annual Action Plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The plan outlines how federal funds will support housing, community development, and homelessness services for low- to moderate-income residents.

This public hearing is the first of two held to gather input for the development of the FY 2026-2027 Annual Action Plan. A 30-day public comment period runs from July 4 to August 4, 2026. Anticipated FY 2026-2027 allocations are:

                     CDBG - $2,267,790.00

                     HOME - $930,109.35

                     ESG - $190,987.00

The public is encouraged to comment on the proposed Annual Action Plan which will be published at marionfl.org/agencies-departments/departments-facilities-offices/community-services, and a draft will be available on July 1, 2026.  Comments can be submitted to CommunityServices@marionfl.org or call 352-671-8770.
