DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

Joseph C. London, P.E., on behalf of the owner Ocala Equine Hospital Real Estate filed a rezoning application to change from Community Business (B-2) to General Agriculture (A-1) on April 11, 2024 for a ± 22.38-acre portion of two Rural Land parcels. The Parcel Identification Number for the property is 12557-000-00 and a portion of 12557-001-00. The site address is 10855 NW Highway 27, Ocala, FL 34482, and the legal description is provided within the application. The subject property sits in Rural Land and has majority of its land zoned as A-1, a portion on the east as B-5. The property lies north of N US HWY 27. The site is located within the Farmland Preservation Area (FPA) and the Silver Springs Secondary Springs Protection Zone. The application proposes rezoning the B-2 portion of the property to General Agriculture (A-1) to match A-1 zoning on the rest of the property and for the rural land use. The applicant requests approval for this rezoning to proceed a major site plan currently under review to allow a hospital extension for agriculture-related commercial and office uses (AR#30734).
