DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

On behalf of the Office of the County Engineer (OCE), a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) was advertised for firms to provide repair and maintenance services for roads, right-of-ways, and stormwater facilities. On August 1, 2017, the Board contracted with five (5) firms to be Pre-Qualified contractors for various projects under this Agreement. A Task Order request was issued in June for pavement repairs on Bay Road. The work includes placing an asphalt leveling course on the selected area, removing and replacing concrete driveway aprons to match new elevations of the roadway, replacing any traffic markings affected by construction, and removing and/or placing stabilized shoulder and sod. Elton Holland, County Engineer, is recommending approval of the Task Order to Art Walker Construction, Inc., the lowest Pre-Qualified Bidder, as shown in the tabulation below:

BUDGET/IMPACT:

Neutral; expenditure of $384,224. Up to ten percent (10%) contingency can be added to the Purchase Order per the Procurement Manual.

Motion to approve recommendation and allow staff to issue the Task Order Amendment and upon approval by Legal, authorize the Chairman to execute same with Art Walker Construction, Inc. under 17Q-087-TO-46.
