DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Marion County Code, Chapter 16, Division 2, Sections 48-49 authorizes the applicant to request a public hearing of the Board of County Commissioners for approval of a new franchise and request appropriate action. The Solid Waste department has a complete application requesting a new franchise from Waste Connections of Florida, Inc. The Board, at the public hearing, shall determine if the applicant is capable of complying with the provisions of the County Code and other applicable rules and regulations, and whether there is a public need for the refuse collection that is in the best interest for the health, safety, and welfare of the County.
As required by Marion County Code, a notice has been placed in the newspaper of general circulation within the County that Waste Connections of Florida, Inc intends to present their application at this public hearing and that such notice was published at least 10 days prior to the public hearing.
