DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Per Section 409.915, Florida Statutes, the Department of Revenue is responsible for collecting the county share of costs for Medicaid recipients. Although the State is responsible for the full portion of the state share of the matching funds required for the Medicaid program, the state is required to charge the counties an annual contribution to acquire a certain portion of these funds.
The Department of Revenues recently announced that for the 2024-25 state fiscal year, Marion County’s annual contribution will be $7,576,766.00, with a monthly allocation of $631,397.17. The County will begin paying the increased rate in June 2024 as the state’s fiscal year begins July 1st. The account will be $462,043 short due to the increase in Marion County's contribution for the upcoming fiscal year. This is a one-time request.
