DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Each year, National association of counties (NACo)’s Achievement Awards program recognizing innovative county government programs in 18 categories covering a wide spectrum of county responsibilities. The categories include arts/culture preservation, children and youth, civic education and public information, community and economy development, county administration and management, criminal justice and public safety, county resiliency, financial management, health, human services, information technology, libraries, parks and recreation, personnel management, planning, risk and emergency services, transportation and volunteers.
Launched in 1970, the program is designed to celebrate innovation in county government.
For 2025, Marion County won the NACo Achievement Award in the Civic Education and Public Information category for the Marion Government 101 - A guide to all things Government video series as well as an NACo Achievement Award in the Transportation Category for the Safety Matters Video series in collaboration with the Marion County Transportation Planning Organization (TPO).
