DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Sitel Operating Corporation (Sitel) is a global Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company engaged in meeting clients’ customer care and transaction processing needs.
On or about May 31, 2012, Marion County, the City of Ocala and Sitel entered into an Economic Investment Program/Economic Development Financial Incentive Grant (EIP/EDFIG).
The agreement provides that Sitel perform certain mandatory requirements, including Section 3.1.2 wherein the company occupy the premises located at 1417 North Magnolia Avenue, Ocala, FL 34475, through the grant expiration date of September 30, 2024. Section 3.1.7 also provides that Sitel remain an exclusive customer of Ocala Electric through the grant expiration date. Finally, section 3.1.11 provides that the company provide quarterly reports as well as annual reports to the City of Ocala and Marion County.
On Friday, August 6, 2021, County staff was notified that the City of Ocala recently received a request to shut off utilities at the former location. In addition, Sitel no longer has an active business tax receipt with the City of Ocala. Sitel has failed to provide the required reports to either agency with little to no communication during the last several months. Therefore, in coordination with the City of Ocala supporting the termination, staff recommends termination of the agreement with the resolution attached, effective immediately.
