Jim Couillard, Director |
Park and Recreation |
DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
The Parks & Recreation Department is currently renovating the boat ramp and parking lot at Heagy Burry. The scope of work includes the demolition of the existing boat ramp and construction of a new boat ramp, parking lot restroom, sidewalks, and a floating dock system.
As part of the project, Foundation Services was contracted to perform compaction grouting at locations B-1 and B-3, as recommended in the Geotechnical Site Evaluation (GeoTech Report No. 24374.08.1) dated December 20, 2024. The grouting quantities required at location B-1 were higher than originally anticipated.
To address this, the Department is requesting a transfer of funds from the Improvements Other Than Buildings account to the Repairs and Maintenance – Buildings and Grounds account. This transfer will enable the Department to complete the necessary surface depression remediation in accordance with the recommendations provided by the geotechnical engineers. Appropriate precautions will also be taken to restrict public access to the affected area during remediation activities.
The requested funds are available due to cost savings realized by reprioritizing and completing smaller projects in-house within the Improvements Other Than Buildings line item.
