DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

The attached Resolution authorizes placement of a countywide General Obligation Bond Referendum on the November 3, 2026 General Election ballot. If approved by the Board, Marion County voters will determine whether to authorize the County to issue up to $140 million in General Obligation Bonds to fund eligible parks, trails, recreational facilities, clean water protection, and land conservation capital improvements.

 

The Resolution establishes the proposed ballot language, authorizes the referendum to be conducted by the Marion County Supervisor of Elections, and includes accountability measures governing the expenditure and public reporting of any voter-approved funding.

 

Approval of this Resolution does not authorize the issuance of bonds or the levy of ad valorem taxes. It authorizes placing the referendum before Marion County voters for their consideration.

 

BUDGET/IMPACT:

No immediate fiscal impact. Adoption of this Resolution authorizes placement of the referendum on the November 3, 2026 General Election ballot.
