James Banta, Fire Chief                                                                                    Fire Rescue

DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

Marion County Fire Rescue handles the Medical Examiner's Fund. The Information Technology Department provided a quote for server warranty to cover the Medical Examiner's database for two years, in April, after the budget was submitted for FY 25. Since the budget has to also be approved by the Advisory Committee at the February meeting, it was not added for transparency to both the committee and the Board of County Commissioners. In July, the Medical Examiner advised that there were 13 autopsy saws that were broken, which included the two newly purchased saws from October. Staff worked with Procurement to secure an authorized Mopec vendor as a sole source that could repair the broken saws. After the process was completed, a requisition was issued, however the vendor then advised that it would be a 6-8 week turnaround time for repairs, which was outside of the fiscal year. Funds are being transferred for these two items that were not able to be budgeted in the current fiscal year due to timing.
