Procurement Services

DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

At its October 5, 2021 meeting, the Board approved a contract with one (1) firm to provide electrical services on an as-needed basis for the County. Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) selected Chuck’s Stokes Electric of Central Fla Inc. (Stokes) to supply and install a 175kw generator and service rated transfer switch at MCFR headquarters located at 2631 SE Third Street, Ocala, FL 34471. The generator will be placed up to 20 feet from the building on the northwest side. On November 6, 2023, MCFR received notification from the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management, that MCFR’s grant submission had been approved for this generator. The grant requires a 90/10 split with the state. The grant provides funding for 90% of the project with MCFR covering the remaining 10%. The grant also includes management costs which MCFR is entitled to submit for future reimbursement; contingency funds are built in for this purpose.

Attached for review is a draft contract. Pending approval at today’s meeting, it will be sent to Stokes for signature and upon return, it will be forwarded for the County Attorney, Clerk, and Chair’s signatures.

BUDGET/IMPACT:

Neutral; grant revenue of $202,874.40; remaining project cost of $22,541.60, for a total project cost of $225,416. Up to ten percent (10%) contingency may be added to the purchase order in accordance with the Procurement Manual.
