DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
In November 2021, the County applied for the State of Florida DEO CDBG-CV Notice of Funding Available (NOFA) on behalf of Marion County Children’s Advocacy Center, Inc. (MCCAC). The State of Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) awarded the County $505,729 to be used for the expansion and renovation of Kimberly Center’s Campus to mitigate Covid-19 which is located at 2800 NE 14th Street, Ocala, Florida 34470.
Expanding and renovating the Kimberly Center campus will support additional space for social distancing of child abuse victims visiting the Center for Child Protection. In addition to expanding capacity allowing the delivery of time-sensitive services, such as medical examination, forensic interviewing, crisis counseling, and advocacy to child abuse victims in a safe and efficient manner. It will also serve as a space for community legal and child welfare partners to conduct or observe interviews, review case files, and consult with one another to support a thorough, comprehensive, child-centered and trauma informed resolution and safety planning for the child victim.
