DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

On March 1, 2022, the Board approved an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Ocala establishing the Regional Opioid Settlement Committee to oversee the management and allocation of opioid settlement funds awarded to Marion County through the State of Florida’s litigation against opioid manufacturers and distributors. The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) was designated by the State to oversee the distribution and use of these funds. As required under the settlement agreement, each community must annually submit an Opioid Abatement Plan outlining the proposed use of settlement funds to address opioid-related impacts within the community.

 

Staff is requesting Board approval to submit the Plan to DCF as approved by the Regional Opioid Settlement Committee.
