SUBJECT:
Title
Parks and Recreation Fees Fund - Parks and Recreation Fees - $10,710
Body
INITIATOR: DEPARTMENT:
Jim Couillard, PLA, ASLA, Director Parks & Recreation
DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
The Marion County Parks & Recreation Department needs to transfer funds into Repairs/Maintenance Building & Grounds to increase engineering services for sinkhole remediation. The Parks & Recreation Department is renovating the boat ramp and parking lot at Heagy Burry. Improvements include demolition of an existing boat ramp and construction of a new boat ramp, parking lot restroom, sidewalks, floating dock system.
A surface depression was discovered in a green space within the project area. The department solicited a contract with GeoTech for a geotechnical report. The report provided remediation recommendations that included grout injections, excavation, backfill and compaction of clay soils. The report also recommended Soil Engineer Monitoring, which was not included in the original proposal. Services include observations, record grout quantities, grouting operations, and develop a compliance letter.
This transfer will allow the Department to complete the surface depression remediation based on the report and the project to move forward. The funds are available from the transfer line as the department has reprioritized self-perform projects planned for FY 2024-25.
