DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Marion County Fire Rescue was awarded $187,500 from the State of Florida, Department of Financial Services, under Grant FM1210 to support operating supplies and machinery and equipment for the Urban Search & Rescue (US&R) Team. The grant agreement was presented to the Board of County Commissioners on the January 20, 2026, agenda for Chairman execution and has since been fully executed by the State. These funds must be expended by June 30, 2026.
If any approved machinery and equipment items cannot be procured within the current fiscal year, a request may be submitted to the State to carry the funds forward, if permitted.
The machinery and equipment included in this Budget Amendment Request consists of two double-stack water rescue boat trailers at $13,600 each, totaling $27,200, and four 25 HP pull-start boat motors with 20-inch shafts at $14,898 each, totaling $59,592. These purchases will enhance the operational readiness and deployment capabilities of the US&R Team.

Increase Fire, Rescue and EMS Fund appropriation by $187,500.
