DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

On behalf of the Marion County Solid Waste Department, Procurement advertised a bid for the purchase and delivery of various sizes and types of waste and recycling containers in accordance with the specifications provided in the solicitation. The containers include heavy-duty compactor receiver boxes, square open-top waste containers, and rectangular recycle roll-off containers, with optional rolling lid systems available for purchase. The containers will be used to support the County’s solid waste and recycling operations. Two (2) submittals were received, and the tabulation is listed below.

Solid Waste Director, Mark Johnson, recommends that Baler & Compactor Hydraulic Services Inc. receive the award as the lowest, most responsive, and most responsible bidder.

 

Attached for review is a draft contract. Following approval at today’s meeting, it will be sent to Baler & Compactor Hydraulic Services Inc. for signatures. Once returned, it will be forwarded to Legal, the Clerk, and Chairman for signatures. 

 

BUDGET/IMPACT:

Neutral; expenditure of $112,292.46. Funding comes from ZA427534-564101 (Solid Waste Disposal Fund).

Recommended action

Motion to approve the recommendation and allow staff to issue a contract, and upon approval by Legal, authorize the Clerk and Chairman to execute the contract under 26B-119.
