DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
On 06/21/2024, Marion County Utilities (MCU) experienced a mechanical failure within one of its service vehicles resulting in a major fire that destroyed seven (7) vehicles, which included four (4) service trucks and three (3) crane trucks. To maintain the current level of service and in preparation for any potential storm event, MCU is requesting approval to transfer $728,761 from reserves to Water Equipment and Wastewater Equipment to purchase replacement vehicles off-the-lot which have been located by Fleet Management. This is a one-time request.
Additionally, because of the fire Risk Management is requesting to transfer $1.5 million dollars from the Insurance reserve account 599501 to accounts 545701 - Automotive Claims in the amount of $1 million and 545801 - Property Claims in the amount of $500,000. This is a one-time request.
