DEPARTMENT:

Fire Rescue

DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

Marion County Fire Rescue was awarded $397,272.73 from the Department of Homeland Security for the FY 2019 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG). As a result, ten percent (10%) of the funds are to be included as part of the grant for the total amount of $437,000. The Revenue Account EF300331-331221 - Firefighters Assistance line item currently contains the grant amount; however, no corresponding expenditures were determined at the time that the budget was finalized until it was approved by the grantor. Marion County Fire Rescue had requested to buy chest compression systems through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process. A vendor was selected and approved on the May 4, 2021 Board agenda. The selected vendor provided a three (3) year warranty in order to be able to meet or exceed the total grant amount. There are funds available in Reserves for Contingencies for this purchase as it was not previously determined when the grant was captured as revenue during the budget process. This grant requires the expenditures be spent before being reimbursed and the total amount for the quote will require a transfer of $440,909.
