DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
On October 17, 2023, the Board approved contracts with five (5) geotechnical firms to provide various services for the County. These services include, but are not limited to, material testing, laboratory testing, monitoring, analyzing, reporting data, and more. The Office of the County Engineer has assigned geotechnical engineering services for SW 145th Place Road and SW 49th Ave Segment F construction project to Central Testing Laboratory, Inc. This work will consist of field and laboratory testing services to ensure road construction material and workmanship comply with project specifications, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and other applicable standards. The Office of the County Engineer will receive a report presenting findings, evaluations, and recommendations.
Attached for review is a draft of the contract; pending approval at today’s meeting, it will be sent to Central Testing Laboratory, Inc. for signature and upon return, it will be forwarded for the County Attorney’s, Clerk’s, and Chairman’s signatures.
BUDGET/IMPACT:
Neutral; project shall not exceed 2% of the total cost of construction. Funding is from VJ738541-563220 ($157,727.40) (Infrast Surtax Cap Proj Fund), and BL760541-563220 ($65,026.69) (Cnty Trans Maint Fund).

Motion to approve the recommendation and allow staff to issue contract, and upon approval by Legal, authorize the Chairman to execute contract with Central Testing Laboratory, Inc.
