DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Several operational factors within Cost Center 442 have resulted in the need for additional funding. Overtime expenditures in Water Operations have exceeded budgeted amounts due to unforeseen repairs and maintenance activities. Providing additional funding will align the budget more closely with historical operational requirements.
In addition, FY 2025-26 has experienced a higher-than-normal number of water line failures, including several emergency situations and repairs that exceeded the capabilities of existing staff and equipment. As a result, additional funding is required for Repairs and Maintenance - Mains and Lines.
Further, inflationary pressures and an increased number of high-cost repair events have significantly impacted fleet maintenance expenses, creating a need for additional funding in Repairs and Maintenance - Fleet Repairs.
Finally, the unplanned replacement of critical pumps and motors, which were not included in the original budget, has necessitated additional funding for Repairs and Maintenance - Equipment to ensure the continued reliability and operation of the water system.
