SUBJECT:

Title

Request Approval of Resolution Extending the Service Agreement Date of Resolution No. 24-R-304 for Silver Springs Shores Phase 1 (Budget Impact - None)

Body

INITIATOR:

DEPARTMENT:

Tony Cunningham, P.E., Director

Utilities

DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

Marion County Utilities is continuing its efforts to protect public health and water quality by transitioning properties within the Silver Springs Shores Septic-to-Sewer Phase 1 Program Area from septic systems to the County sewer system. To support this initiative, the Board previously adopted Resolution No. 24-R-304, which established a 90-day period for eligible developed property owners to enter into service agreements with Marion County Utilities and qualify for available American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding assistance for utility connections.

Although connection to the sewer system is required pursuant to applicable regulations, the original decision period has expired, and several eligible property owners have not yet executed service agreements. Extending the deadline will provide additional time for participation in the program and allow more property owners to take advantage of available grant funding, thereby reducing the financial burden associated with required utility connections.

Approval of this resolution will extend the service agreement deadline to September 1, 2026, while leaving all other provisions, obligations, and conditions of Resolution No. 24-R-304 unchanged.

BUDGET/IMPACT:

None
