Title: Budget Transfer from Fire, Rescue and EMS Fund to County Transportation Maintenance Fund - $34,000

SUBJECT:

Title

Budget Transfer from Fire, Rescue and EMS Fund to County Transportation Maintenance Fund - $34,000

Body

INITIATOR:

DEPARTMENT:

James Banta, Fire Chief and  Steven Cohoon, P.E., County Engineer

Fire Rescue and  Transportation

DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

Fire Rescue and Transportation have entered into an agreement to exchange capital equipment to meet the operational needs of both departments. As part of this exchange, Transportation has transferred a skid steer, valued at $37,000, to Fire Rescue. In return, Fire Rescue has provided Transportation with three lawn mowers, each valued at $1,000, totaling $3,000. Since the lawn mowers are not considered capital equipment and will not be inventoried, the net difference of $34,000 will be transferred from Fire Rescue to Transportation to reconcile the asset valuation.

Fire Rescue has no allocated funding in the Machinery & Equipment account for FY 2026. Therefore, the $34,000 needed for the equipment exchange will be sourced from the Reserve for Contingencies. This is a non-recurring, one-time transaction.

BUDGET/IMPACT:

Increase County Transportation Maintenance Fund appropriation by $34,000.
