DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Matthew Grow, Airport Director, Ocala International Airport, is submitting grant applications to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), requesting funding for infrastructure in the west side airport development. On February 20, 2026, a letter was sent on behalf of Marion County in support of this project.
These improvements would benefit various general aviation, commercial (airline) aviation, and non-aviation commercial/retail businesses. More specifically, the construction includes Taxiway-C and related pavement to include connector taxiway, parking apron, vehicle parking lot, and a road extension to accommodate large air carrier aircraft serving the equestrian community (cargo), as well as international charter flights specific for world class competitions related to the World Equestrian Center (WEC).
