DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

Gulfstream Towers Holding Company, LLC, on behalf of the property owner, Fig Lake Preserve, LLLP, applied for a Special Use Permit to construct a 199-foot monopole telecommunications tower on a ±1,398.64-acre site with a Rural Land (RL) future land use designation and General Agriculture (A-1) zoning classification. The parcel identification number associated with the property is 48512-000-00. The site’s addresses are [1] 14607 E Highway 25, Ocklawaha, FL 32179; [2] 14617 E Highway 25, Ocklawaha, FL 32179; and [3] 16000 SE 135th Street, Ocklawaha, FL 32195. The site is located inside the Secondary Springs Protection Overlay Zone and outside of the Urban Growth Boundary and the Farmland Preservation Area. The conceptual site plan submitted with the application proposes a 60’ x 60’ fenced compound area accessed from a 40’ wide access easement connecting to the nearest public right-of-way (SE 135th Street). The tower is located in the fenced compound, and the applicant’s engineer certifies that the tower has an engineered fall radius contained completely within the compound. At the time of publication, Growth Services received one letter of support and five letters of opposition.
