DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
The individual cost of a computer has increased since pricing was established during last year’s budget preparation, resulting in an insufficient total amount for the library’s bulk computer order.
To address this shortfall, funds have been identified in Books, Publications, and Subscriptions due to a budgeted subscription no longer being needed after the company went out of business. Additional funds are available in Utility Services and Contract Services, as expenses for the Silver Spring Shores Public Library have not yet begun and costs for the Freedom Public Library are lower than anticipated.
The requested funds will also cover the purchase of monitors and battery backups that were already budgeted and are needed for the new computers at the Freedom Public Library. This is a non-recurring issue.
