DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
In accordance with Land Development Code section 6.14.2, developers (property owners) are required to connect to public utilities if the property is within connection distance. For a single-family residence, the connection distance is 400 feet from the parcel’s closest corner to the public water main. In this case, the property owner is required to connect to the public water main provided by Marion County Utilities (MCU) and would be required to install 406 feet of water main, which includes serving both of developer’s parcels to the end of the farther property. The water main extension will serve the property owner’s parcels and create a benefit for two (2) additional parcels along the route of the water main extension. The project includes a fire hydrant stub out assembly for a cost of $3,000, which is MCU’s sole responsibility. The collective owners’ obligation total is $38,254, which is derived from the base construction cost ($37,554) plus design fee ($700), for a pro-rata share or per parcel cost is $9,563.50.
BUDGET/IMPACT:
Neutral; expenditure of $41,254, and construction purchase order includes 10% contingency in accordance with the Procurement Manual. Funding is from ZF448536-563102 with project code UTC000094.
