DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

Marion County submitted an application for the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund (Grant) on October 20, 2023, to develop the Florida Crossroads Commerce Park. This grant opportunity approved by Governor Scott in 2017 and managed by FloridaCommerce was created to promote economic opportunity by improving public infrastructure and enhancing workforce training.

In December of 2023, county staff was advised that the application submitted was being considered for full funding. County staff worked closely with state officials in negotiating the subject agreement; the introductory letter was signed by the County Administrator on December 18, 2023. The executed agreement was signed by the County Administrator on April 16, 2024, and by FloridaCommerce Secretary J. Alex Kelly on April 26, 2024.

The funds will be used to complete the north/south road within the commerce park.  The road supported by this grant application will make the southern portion of the park fully accessible. Concurrently, the developer is also extending the park's internal road network at a cost of $3.5 million.
