DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
For the FY 2025-26 Budget, Marion County Utilities (MCU) received a quote from Data Flow to upgrade the Telemetry Control Units (TCU) for the Pump controllers. The original quote had a sliding scale of discount amounts, as MCU did not want to replace all of them at once. To replace 20 in the first year Data Flow offered a 16% discount. This resulted in the cost per unit of $5,096. However, after the budgets were set, Data Flow offered the full 26% discount per unit on all 185 units to be purchased by FY 2029-30. This additional discount reduced the cost per unit below the $5,000 per unit threshold. This means the units need to be expensed against Equipment Repairs and Maintenance.
