SUBJECT:
Title
Marion County Utility Fund - Utilities Management - $60,000

INITIATOR:
DEPARTMENT:
Tony Cunningham, PE, Director
Utilities
DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Typically, Marion County Utilities (MCU) can repair sewer line breaks using in-house labor. Over the past 3 years, outside expenses have been less than $10,000 per year. However, in FY 2025-26, there was a collapsed sewer main in the Spruce Creek Preserve subdivision which is 12 feet below the ground. Because of this depth, MCU does not have equipment to excavate safely and effectively to repair the main and must utilize an outside contractor. The cost of this work is just over $57,000. As this sewer main is a vital piece of infrastructure, there is a need to transfer funds into the Repair and Maintenance of Sewer Lines account. Extra funds are being requested in case other breaks or collapses happen.
