DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
In Wastewater Operations, increased service costs and a higher number of returned items have created the need for additional funding in the Postage and Freight object. To reduce odors in the Oak Run subdivision, odor control products are being stored in rental compartments, resulting in an unbudgeted expense in the Rentals and Leases line item.
An increase in repairs, combined with inflationary cost increases, has also created the need for additional funding in both Repairs and Maintenance - Fleet Management and Parts - Vehicles/Equipment. As FY 2024-25 concluded and FY 2025-26 began, several operator and field technician vacancies were filled, requiring the purchase of new uniforms and steel-toed boots. In addition, updated OSHA requirements for fire-resistant personal protective equipment (PPE) have increased costs in the PPE line item. Finally, two repairs to lift station riser piping have necessitated additional funding in Building and Grounds Maintenance.
