DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

On behalf of the Marion County Solid Waste Department, Procurement advertised a bid seeking qualified and experienced contractors to provide waste tire transportation and disposal services for the Marion County Solid Waste Baseline Landfill. The scope of work includes the transportation and disposal of waste tires, with or without rims, from the Baseline Landfill to a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) permitted disposal or recycling facility. The contractor will furnish all labor, equipment, and transportation necessary to perform the services in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. One (1) submittal was received, and the tabulation is listed below.

Solid Waste Director, Mark Johnson, recommends that Liberty Tire Recycling LLC, receive the award as the lowest, most responsive, and most responsible bidder.

 

Attached for review is a draft contract. Upon approval at today’s meeting, it will be sent to Liberty Tire Recycling LLC, for signatures. Once returned, it will be forwarded to the Clerk and Chairman for signatures.

 

 

BUDGET/IMPACT:

Neutral; expenditure of $392,750. Funding comes from ZA423534-534101 (Solid Waste Disposal Fund).

Recommended action

Motion to approve the recommendation and allow staff to issue a contract, and upon approval by Legal, authorize the Chairman and Clerk to execute the contract under 26B-098.
