DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Marion County owns Parcel 8001-0000-19, which is currently utilized by Marion County Utilities (MCU) as a drinking water treatment plant and regional maintenance facility. Adjacent to this property is Parcel 8001-0000-124, identified as Tract “X-A” in the Marion Oaks Unit One Plat (Plat Book O, Page 001). This parcel, which surrounds a significant portion of the County’s existing operations area, is privately owned and designated for preservation use. The acquisition of this property will allow MCU to utilize the existing plant and maintenance site more fully while buffering activities from surrounding property owners. MCU has coordinated with the property owner and reached an agreement to acquire the parcel. This acquisition will provide mutual benefits to Marion County and the surrounding community, plus estimated closing cost.
