DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
In accordance with Land Development Code section 6.14.2, developers (property owners) are required to connect to public utilities if the property is within connection distance. For a single-family residence, the connection distance is 400 feet from the parcel’s closest corner to the public water main. In this case, the property owner is required to connect to the public water main provided by Marion County Utilities (MCU), which will result in installing 132 feet of water main across the parcel’s frontage and will create a benefit to one (1) additional parcel. MCU’s $700 cost is for design fee only, as the property owner is using their own underground utility contractor to complete the work.
