DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Marion County Office of the County Engineer (OCE) requests approval to piggyback Sumter County’s contract with Asphalt Paving Systems, Inc. (APS). Given the urgent need for services and the current staff shortages within OCE, along with the opportunity to advertise a solicitation before the end of the fiscal year, Steven Cohoon, P.E., County Engineer, proposes utilizing the competitively bid APS contract to provide chip seal services for Marion County.
Attached for review is a contract draft, proposal, and map. Pending approval at today’s meeting, it will be sent to the contractor, APS, for signatures.
BUDGET/IMPACT:
Neutral; annual expenditure not to exceed $500,000. Funding is available from project TIP077844 which has several potential funding sources - BL760541-563220 (County Transportation Maintenance Fund), BO762541-563101 (2nd Local Option Fuel Tax), BM761541-563221 (80% Gas Tax Construction Fund, and BN403541-553101 (20% Gas Tax Construction Fund).

Motion to approve piggyback, allow staff to issue the purchase order and upon execution with Asphalt Paving Systems, Inc., authorize the Chair and Clerk to execute the contract upon legal review under 24PB-290.
