DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
On August 2, 2022, the Board approved the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-2023 Annual Action Plan for Community Services with is associated with the FY 2019-2023 Five (5) Year Consolidated Plan.
Florida Center for the Blind, Inc applied to the Community Service’s FY 2022-2023 Notice of Funding Availability to assist in acquiring the required documentation for a future Youth Education Center to be built in the first phase of a long-term expansion plan. This project supports the goals established in the Five (5) Year Consolidated Plan and associated Annual Action Plans to expand Community Development.
Florida Center for the Blind, Inc implements specialized early learning programs, along with access to technology training and vocational rehabilitation services. They are seeking to provide additional facilities and/or services for visually impaired youths from Pre-K through Grade 3 to prepare them to transition into the Marion County Public School System. In addition, Florida Center for the Blind, Inc expects to continue their expansion vision with development of a Vocational Rehabilitation & Job Readiness Center along with an indoor Orientation & Mobility space.
