DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

Stephen J. Fredriksen, Jr. filed an application for a Special Use Permit for three (3) goats in a Single-Family Dwelling (R-1) zone (see Attachments A, B, and C). The Property Identification Number(s) associated with the property is 4707-087-029, the street address is 9300 SE 157th Place, Summerfield. The subject property’s future land use designation is Medium Residential. It is not within the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) or Farmland Preservation Area (FPA), but it is in the SE US Hwy 441 Urban Area and the Silver Springs Secondary Springs Protection Overlay Zone (SSPOZ). No letters of opposition have been received, while multiple letters of support have been received to date.

 

Staff recommends APPROVAL with Conditions due to the request being consistent with the Marion County Comprehensive Plan, it is compatible with the surrounding area, and it will not adversely affect the public interest, specified in Section VI.B. of this Staff Report, subject to conditions recommended by staff to address compliance with the requirements in LDC Sections 2.8.2.D, 2.8.3.B, and 4.3.21.

 

The Planning and Zoning Commission voted to agree with staff’s findings and recommend APPROVAL WITH CONDITIONS of the Special Use Permit as part of the Consent Agenda; motion passed on a vote of 6-0.
