INITIATOR:

DEPARTMENT:

Jody Kirkman, P.E., Environmental Services Director

Utilities

DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

In accordance with Land Development Code section 6.14.2, developers (property owners) are required to connect to, if the property is within connection distance.  For a single-family residence, the connection distance is 400-feet from the parcel’s closest corner from the public water main.  In this case, the owner is required to connect to the public water main provided by Marion County Utilities (MCU) by constructing additional water main to reach the farthest end of the property’s corner.  Additional conditions have caused the owner to only pay a portion of the extension and are identified in Section 1 of the Agreement attached and supporting Location Map as Exhibit 1.  In accordance with Resolution Number 21-R-381 approved by the Board on August 17, 2021, the developer/property owner only pays their pro-rata share based on MCU’s contractor’s low bid price. The extension constructed to serve the Owner’s parcel also creates a benefit for three (3) additional parcels along the route of the water main extension.
