DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Growth Services staff, with their consultant, Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., have been having meetings with the public and stakeholders regarding Marion County’s 2025 Evaluation Appraisal Report (EAR). Florida Statute requires a review of the Comprehensive Plan every seven years to ensure consistency with statutory requirements and community engagement. This report, the EAR, is due February 2025 with identified changes to the Comprehensive Plan to be completed within one year. These meetings have provided the public and stakeholders opportunities to give input on suggested changes that will guide strategic growth in Marion County through 2050.
Workshops with the Board have been scheduled over the next several months to review the materials and the public response. The first workshop took place on Thursday, September 12th at 2:00 pm; the second workshop took place on Tuesday, October 1st at 1:30 pm, and a third workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29th at 2:00 pm. These workshops are to be held in the McPherson Governmental Campus Auditorium.
