DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Over the past year, the County’s negotiations team and the Professional Firefighters of Marion County, Local IAFF 3169, have met and tentatively agreed to a proposed Collective Bargaining Agreement. The agreement reflects a collaborative effort between County Administration, Human Resources, Fire Rescue leadership, and union representatives to address employee compensation, workforce sustainability, operational readiness, recruitment, retention, and employee wellness. This proposed agreement will provide all current Bargaining Unit employees with a $20,000 increase to their base rate of pay and increase the starting wages of all positions covered by this agreement.

This proposed agreement was ratified by the union body on May 27, 2026, and if adopted, will be effective June 20, 2026, to September 30, 2026. All salary changes will go into effect on June 27, 2026, or thereafter as described in the proposed agreement.
BUDGET/IMPACT:
Additional annual expenditure in the Fire Fund of $6,287,218.81 and General Fund of $5,716,514.90.
