DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Marion County’s construction industry is experiencing significant growth. Building Inspectors are required to be equipped with the proper tools to conduct inspections in accordance with the Florida Building Code.
To ensure security of Building Safety property and reduce the likelihood of pilferage, we request a $28,600 allocation from Machinery and Equipment for the purchase and installation of locking truck bed covers on our inspection vehicles. This investment will safeguard valuable tools and equipment, minimizing theft risks while maintaining our ability to respond promptly to inspection requests.
Machinery and Equipment currently holds surplus funds due to cost variances in FY 23-24 vehicle purchases, making this a strategic allocation of existing resources.
