DEPARTMENT:
Tony Cunningham, P.E., Director
Utilities
DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
In accordance with Land Development Code section 6.14.2, developers (property owners) are required to connect to public utilities if the property is within connection distance. For a single-family residence, the connection distance is 400 feet from the parcel’s closest corner to the public water main. In this case, the property owner is required to connect to the public water main provided by Marion County Utilities (MCU), which will result in installing 220 feet of water main across the parcel’s frontage to the end of the property. The water main extension project will create an additional benefit for three (3) parcels along the route. The total project cost is derived from the construction cost plus the design fee.
Total Project Cost
$22,600
$22,100 construction + $500 design fee
Per Parcel Cost
$5,650
Total of four (4) parcels
The design is being performed by in-house staff, and the construction cost is being paid by the owner to a contractor, so there is no added cost to the county.
