DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
At the May 24th, 2023 Visioning Workshop, the consultant facilitated a vision statement discussion amongst commissioners and staff members. During the discussion, the following five thoughts had the most interest and support:
1- Strong economy,
2- Safe community,
3- Well-planned community,
4- Quality of life, and
5- Place where families matter.
Based on those qualities, several vision statements were proposed as shown on the attached list. Staff recommends that the Board review those statements and select one to be added to our 5-year strategic plan “Empowering Marion for Success II.” Also attached is our mission statement, core values and guiding principles in case the Board would like to discuss or add any thoughts. Those three items have been part of our strategic plan since 2016.

Selection of a vision statement to be incorporated into the Empowering Marion for Success II 5-year Strategic Plan.
