DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
In June of 2021, Marion County Utilities (MCU) purchased the Marion Utilities utility services. Part of this purchase included two water treatment facilities and a wastewater treatment facility in the Golden Holiday subdivision. These plants have required significant maintenance to keep them running, so a decision was made for financial reasons to decommission these facilities and connect the customers to current MCU service lines. Currently there is not sufficient funding in the MCU CIP project funding string for Wastewater Treatment improvements, due to other more pressing needs for those funds in past years.
